Event Photography in Halifax & Leeds – Done Properly

If you’re putting time, money and effort into an event, you want more to show for it than a few blurry phone snaps and a vague memory.

I’m Danny Thompson, a professional event photographer based in Halifax and working regularly in Leeds and across West Yorkshire. I help businesses, charities and organisations capture their events with natural, storytelling images you can actually use – for your website, social media, PR, and internal comms.

From conferences in Leeds city centre to awards nights in Halifax and charity galas across Yorkshire, I’m there to document the atmosphere, the important moments and the little details that tell the full story of your day.

Event Photography That Shows Your Business at Its Best

Good events don’t just happen – they’re planned, promoted and delivered with a lot of graft behind the scenes. Your photography should work just as hard.

As a West Yorkshire event photographer, I focus on images that:

1. Support your marketing and social media

Perfect for LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, email campaigns and blog posts. Scroll-stopping visuals that actually get engagement.

2. Fit straight into your website and PR

Strong speaker shots, sponsor branding, networking moments and venue details that journalists, partners and stakeholders love to see.

3. Boost internal comms and employer branding

Show your team learning, celebrating and growing together. Great for recruitment, onboarding, training and culture pieces.

Types of Events I Photograph

I cover a wide range of business and community events across Halifax, Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, Wakefield and the wider Calderdale and Yorkshire region.

Corporate Events & Conferences

Keynote speakers, panel discussions, breakout sessions and networking – captured in a natural, unobtrusive way. I focus on the energy in the room, the ideas being shared and the people who make it all happen.

Awards Nights & Gala Dinners

From red carpet arrivals to emotional speeches and big wins on stage, I make sure the important moments – and the reactions – are covered. Sponsors, branding and room details are always part of the story.

Networking Events & Business Expos

Plenty of handshake moments, conversations, stand activity and sponsor visibility. Ideal for ongoing promotion of your networking group, membership organisation or business community.

Product Launches & Showroom Events

Whether it’s a new product line, showroom opening or dealership event in Leeds or Huddersfield, I capture hero shots of your products, team and guests interacting, ready for marketing campaigns.

Charity Fundraisers & Community Events

As a charity event photographer, I know how vital good imagery is for fundraising and awareness. I capture honest, emotive images that show impact, community spirit and supporter involvement.

Training Days, Workshops & Away Days

Candid moments of learning, collaboration and team building, plus key group shots and branded details. Great for internal updates, case studies and future event promotion.

How I Work on the Day

Events move quickly. You need someone who can quietly get on with the job and not add to the noise.

Here’s how I typically work as your event photographer in Halifax and Leeds:

  • Pre-Event Briefing
We’ll have a call or meeting before the event to run through timings, key moments, VIPs, sponsors and any must-have shots. I’m happy to work directly with your marketing or PR team.
  • Arrive Early & Recce the Venue
I’ll get there in good time to check the space, light and layout. That means no flapping when guests arrive and we’re ready to go from the first handshake.
  • Discreet, Documentary Coverage
Most of the time I blend into the background, capturing natural moments, audience reactions, speakers on stage, branded signage, room details and sponsor presence.
  • Friendly Direction When Needed
For group photos, VIP shots, award winners and team images, I’ll step in with clear, simple direction so everyone looks their best – quickly, without faff.

The aim is simple: no-nonsense, professional coverage that makes you look organised, put-together and proud of your event.

After the Event – Fast Turnaround, Ready-to-Use Images

Once the event is done, I know your team will want images sharpish for follow-up posts, press releases and internal updates.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Professional Editing
Every selected image is edited for colour, contrast and consistency so your gallery looks polished and on-brand.
  • Online Gallery
You’ll receive a secure, easy-to-use online gallery where you can view, share and download your images.
  • Web-Ready & Print-Ready Files
Optimised files ready for your website, social media and print materials – no extra tinkering needed.
  • Fast Turnaround
Typical turnaround is just a few working days, and I can provide a small selection of same-day or next-day images for urgent social media or PR when needed.
  • Usage for Your Marketing
You’re free to use the images across your own marketing, social media, internal comms and standard PR as agreed – giving your event much more life than just one day.

Event Photography FAQs

The sooner the better, especially for peak dates, but it’s always worth asking. If I’m free, I’ll do my best to help, even at short notice.

Absolutely. I’m used to working alongside in-house marketing teams, agencies and PR companies. We can agree a shot list, key messages and any urgent image needs before the event.

It depends on the length and type of event, but you can expect a strong, carefully curated selection that tells the full story – typically several hundred images for a full-day corporate event.

Our Drone Photography Process

We keep things straightforward, fully planned and easy to slot into your existing project workflow.

01. Enquiry & Discovery Call

We begin with a chat about the site, the project and the milestones you want to document. We’ll explore what you need to capture, whether that’s progress, inspections, before and after comparisons or material for marketing. If there are sensitive areas, no-fly zones or neighbours to consider, we’ll cover those too. You’ll come away with clear, honest guidance on what’s achievable.

0.2 Pre Flight Planning & Risk Assessment

Before we ever set foot on site, we carry out all the groundwork. This includes checking airspace restrictions, mapping safe flight paths and identifying take off and landing points. We prepare full RAMS and coordinate directly with your site manager and H&S lead. You’ll know exactly when we’re visiting, where we’ll be operating and how the session will run.

03. On Site Drone Operations

On the day, we sign in, complete any required inductions and follow all site rules. We walk the site to confirm conditions, then carry out controlled flights to the agreed brief. Before leaving, we review key shots with you to make sure nothing has been missed. If weather or site conditions don’t allow for safe flying, we’ll be upfront. Safety comes first.

04. Editing & Delivery

After the session, you’ll receive professionally edited aerial photos in both print and web resolutions. If video is part of the brief, we can provide a polished edit with music, branding and titles. Social media-optimised clips are available too. Everything is delivered through a secure online gallery or transfer, making it easy for your team to access and share.
